Specially selected for the UK climate Fig Brown Turkey is fully hardy and can be grown very successfully outdoors This popular self-fertile fig tree produces large crops of sweet juicy figs with a deep red flesh under their brown skins With an ideal lobed foliage Figs make a dramatic feature when fan trained against a sunny wall or grown in a container on the patio Fruits develop in spring and ripen from August to September A second crop often develops in late summer and if protected these fruits will ripen during the following summer At maturity will reach a height of 3m (9ft) and spread of 4m (13ft) Estimated time to cropping once planted is 1 year Estimated time to best yields is 3 years Grow in a sheltered sunny position - a warm south facing site against a wall is ideal Fig trees like moisture-retentive fertile well-drained soil that is slightly alkaline Supplied as a pot grown plant in a 9cm nursery pot Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
